See it on the map here.

2. Who is Fabian?
I'll be holding a sign that says "Architecture Walk Singapore". I'll be wearing this hat:

3. What time should I arrive?
Come early! We'll grab you a coffee / tea and chat with the group.

4. What if I'm running late?
We'll start off on time, but we'll just be nearby. Text me so I know you're running late, and call me when you arrive at Bugis+ / Queen Street.

5. What should I wear?
Comfortable shoes. Preferably jeans or something you don't mind sitting with.

6. What if it rains?
Bring an umbrella! We'll still go on, and I'll try my best to shift things indoors.

7. I don't drink wine...
That's ok, I'll bring along non-alcoholic drinks too!

8. I need a nap because I've been watching the World Cup...
That's why we start things with caffeine!

Architecture Walk Singapore brings you on an intimate, 2-hour hands-on tour of the Bugis Bras Basah neighbourhood. You'll walk and chat as part of a small group (capped at 8) while learning about the history and architecture along Queen Street. As part of the tour, examine three distinct buildings designed by the award-winning, homegrown architecture practice WOHA.

This walk shares a story of Singapore's rapidly shifting architecture and urban landscape, and examines the hidden forces that shape these changes.

The experience:
  • We'll start our tour with a coffee / tea with a friendly group introduction.
  • Then we'll explore a series of buildings with historical significance along Queen Street, together with three contrasting WOHA buildings: a mall, an MRT station and a school.
  • We end the walk over some boutique wine and nibbles on the steps of the School of the Arts.
Duration: Approximately 2 hours, including 70 minutes of walking.
Accessibility: Busy sidewalks, but flat and straight route. Queen Street (the main stretch we'll be on) has relatively fewer cars than main roads.

Only 8 spots available.

How to find me:
We're meeting at Bugis+ mall, in the astroturf (fake grass) patch right outside ck underwear, and near the McDonald's and Koi Tea. I'll be holding a sign for "Architecture Walk Singapore". I'll also share my mobile number with you after you sign up.

About the walk leader:
Fabian Lua is an enthusiast of architecture, walking and re-discovering Singapore. His experience in understanding architecture range from the formal (taking architecture history classes when he was at UPenn) to the informal (reading books from Basheer and the library). He has led art tours as part of OH! Open House in Tiong Bahru and Marina Bay.

  • You used to charge either nothing or $5 - why charge more now?
The tour is meant to be small, and running it free meant no-shows took up slots that could have gone to others. That said,
    1) the price is not meant to be a barrier - if you're interested but have concerns about the price, please contact me.
    2) I'll be running more walks in the future priced at $5, without the wine / coffee / water frills.
    3) The money you pay goes towards the coffee, water, boutique wine, snacks and printing. I don't plan to make any money from this - it's a hobby!

  • Why can't I buy more than 2 tickets?
The total group size is 8, and think of it as a chance to meet new friends!
